I’m really struggling. I am doing all I can to try and believe I haven’t committed an unforgivable sin..
I guess I haven’t.. because I’m still welcome in God’s presence when I worship.. I just wonder.. does anybody here *know* what ‘speaking a word against The Holy Spirit’ actually is?
I know a lot of people will say that this unforgivable/unpardonable sin as listed in Matthew, Mark, and Luke.. is simply not believing Jesus is the Son of God.. but tons of people have chosen not to believe upon their first hearing of the Gospel.. only to turn back and believe later. Plus.. blasphemy literally means evil-speaking.. to speak evil of.. etc.. if I’m correct.. so how could a false belief in Jesus be the unforgivable sin.. especially if you can turn from it and be saved?

Thanks for your question, If you look this subject up online, you see there are many view points on what is actually meant by “blasphemy”. I tend to think it means turning your back on the Holy Spirit when He is drawing you to the Father or Christ.
If we don’t heed the call of the Holy Spirit then we won’t enter into relationship with the Father. However, I think as Christians we shouldn’t get caught up in these theological difficult debates, but focus on our relationship with the Father and on loving others.
The fact that you care whether or not you’ve committed the unforgivable sin tells me you haven’t and you are still in relationship with Him. In fact, I believe that it is always our choice to be in relationship with Him or not. He is always willing because we are His children. The parable of the prodigal son shows us what the father’s heart is like for us even when we turn away.
He loves you and me beyond belief and we have just a taste of that love really. I encourage you to keep in the faith and let His love ever increase in you so that it may overflow to serve others.
Sincerely,
Ted
