If you’re seeking to break cycles of depression or other debilitating thought patterns nothing is more important than getting out and doing some exercise.
This is often a hard thing to initiate because your mind is screaming at you to stay on the couch or to stay in bed. You may feel drained of energy and think that there is no way you could ever do anything physical.
It’s important that you recognize this type of thinking as a lie and it’s these lies that will keep you in your cycle of depression or behavior.
This exercise doesn’t have to be anything too strenuous, just a walk around the neighborhood is a good start. As you begin to get out and get moving positive endorphins are released in your brain and this causes you to actually feel better and more energetic. As you are able to increase your physical activity, you will begin to feel better and better about yourself.
It’s good to start making some exercise goals such as walking 2 miles today, but 3 miles by the end of the week or biking 10 miles today, but 15 by the end of the week. As you achieve these small goals, hopefully you will realize that small successes can be achieved in all areas of your life.
I know this isn’t easy but it is vital for you to claim your life back. Perhaps you have a friend that wouldn’t mind exercising with you or even a pet can make it even more enjoyable. The important thing is that you get out there and start living again little by little.
