I Don’t Believe in Karma
You know the saying What goes around comes around right?
Or how about the ancient eastern law of karma? Well, I don’t buy it.
Today I went out to get lunch and my bill came to $6.80. I gave the lady $7 and said keep the change. I then went next door to purchase a newspaper for $1.20. I then walked up to the counter looked through my wallet and found $1.10 worth of change. I said “ahhh, I only have $1.10…..“. The guy just looked at me so I had to use my bank card. If I would have taken my change instead of being nice I would have had enough change. Karma would say that the situation would have turned out differently.
That’s the problem when we live thinking karma is a reality, Although I admit some correlation to life in the day to day it doesn’t work and I’m glad. If I was paid back for everything good I’ve done then super (although this clearly by today wasn’t the case). However, If I’m to be paid back for all the evil I’ve done then yikes, I better hide. I’ve messed up, I’ve treated people bad at times, I’ve lied, I’ve used, and I’ve cursed………Even though I’ve done all those things my life has been good and also what did I do wrong as a child to deserve getting abused?
No, I don’t believe in Karma because there is a greater law in the universe and that is the law of GRACE. Unmerited favor…….I don’t get what I deserve and I don’t love or be nice to people for something in return. I love others because I’ve been shown such mercy and grace in my life and although I’ve messed up at times, I never get the punishment that I deserve or the misfortune that should hunt me down.
