Nothing in My Life Works Out

It’s crazy how I’m approaching 28 years of age and I’m just now realizing my life isn’t in order.

It always seems that some outside force is messing up everything I dream of doing, acheiving, or even plan.

I don’t understand why I’m always in a crossfire, and I’m sure it starts with me. I just don’t know how to apply myself in the right direction without always messing things up.

All I really want is to take control of my own life and have that feeling of self accomplishment and self worth.

Am I suffering from depression and is it possible to gain control over my own life?

Dear Jennifer,

Thanks for sharing this problem with me. I’m a firm believer that life is about 10 percent circumstance and 90 percent attitude. Successful people have a successful/positive attitude. Unsuccessful people usually have a pessimistic attitude.

The problem with negative thoughts is they often become a self-fulfilling prophecy. If we think we are going to fail, then most likely we will. We can even sub-consciously sabotage good things that are wanting to happen in our lives because of our attitude.

If you want life to change then you must work on your attitude and negative thought processes. I would recommend going to your library and getting some books on positive thinking or even seeing a counselor so that you can figure out where all the negativity is stemming from and take steps to undo those destructive thought patterns.

I think when you start having a positive outlook on life, then and only then, will life give you what you desire.

Kind regards,

Ted

I don’t agree with the philosophy that life is 10 percent luck and 90 percent attitude.

I have been very positive throughout my entire career. Generally most of the stuff that has not worked out in my life is due to external factors.

The only thing that seems to make things in my life worth anything are the fact that I shake things up so often when they are not.

Unfortunately I have not shaken my career up though just where I live and the people I spend time with.

I am strongly considering shaking up my career though.

Maybe you just need to move and find a new life?
